Need to do the maintenance for the room.

We stayed in August 2024 for my birthday. This was our 5th or 6th trip and unfortunately we will probably not return. Resort has stopped focusing on couples and has starting promoting large groups to book rooms. The resort isn't set up for this. Dining is delayed, staff is stressed (not enough of them to serve large groups plus other guests), more buffets than before, loud groups partying until late into the night/morning takes away from the chill, relaxing, quiet vibe the resort used to have. Staff and taxi drivers indicate the new manager (might not still be there 1.5 years later, maybe so) was running the resort into the ground for personal profit. We came here for our honeymoon in 2016 and loved it and went back several times. The last trip was so bad and noisy we were ready to leave early since the other people in our building thought nothing of blaring their music and talking on the phone until 3 and 4am in the common areas between rooms. The way the buildings are set up in this resort you walk into a common area and all the rooms in the building come off the common area. The problem is the rooms are very insulated between the rooms but not around the doors. Also because of the large open ceilings, stuff in the common areas echo. As the group was very large (probably 30 plus adults), our concerns were pretty much dismissed since they had rented out about 1/3 of the resort. The wait staff and kitchen staff and bar staff did the best they could.

Great customer service, very clean, there’s always somebody around to help with any concern you may have, my teens were happy to be there. My families spent 5 fun days at AVA and we enjoyed it a lot.

Very pleased with the resort. We did the included catamaran, cenote, and the shopping excursion. The food, staff and such at the resort was fantastic. Room stayed cold and room service was prompt and fresh. Where things went wrong: this hotel partners with Lomas Travel for the excursions. The conglomerate that owns the business owns Lomas travel. We were told this by their membership sales team. They will tell you how terrible the included excursions are to try to persuade you from doing the free excursions. We decided to book an ATV package through them after being told that there is a two hour hike to the cenote. Day of the excursion, the travel comes to pick us up and they have our name on the list so we get on the bus. We paid $80 dollars a person for atv, catamaran and wave runners. We pull into the cenote and we let the driver know that we aren't supposed to be here, it's supposed to be the atv park. The driver said there's nothing that can be done and we will have to deal with Lomas when we got back. After talking with everyone there, we were on the free cenote tour with the hotel. Fine, but we are going to pay for something that is free. After getting back we were told my the lomas rep to come back before 6:30 and he will see what can be done about the refund. We got back at 6:20 and there's a sign--taking lunch be back in 30 min. They leave at 7 so we just sat there. He shows up and says yeah it was a mistake but the manager said they aren't refunding it.
