“3 night stay over Easter. Pub was clean and comfortable although bed mattress was very firm which meant disturbed sleep for stay. Owners very welcoming. Breakfast was 8-9am which I felt was a little early as we usually like to have a lazy wake up without having to have alarm on so wasnt as relaxing as we would have liked. “When I arrived I was shown to my room by the owner who was very friendly, but as soon as we entered the room she noticed the bathroom was flooded. She explained that one of the staff members had been fiddling with a pressure reducing valve and it must have caused the shower to run with the door open. “A very special place to stay as this was the family home of Florence Nightingale. We stayed in two bedrooms which were the rooms that she grew up in before she went to Crimea. This is not a hotel. It’s more of a guest house with a few of the rooms rented out on a nightly basis. The property is accessed through several gates so it’s on very private land. The views are amazing of the local countryside and there’s a very beautiful garden around the house and sheep in the fields a little further...

“One thing marks down the property. Breakfast was not complete. We went for dinner at the White Hart and they had gluten free cereals. I had to ask for orange juice at breakfast. Also, we came back at 22:50 on a Friday night and asked for a beer. We were refused but another resident was served beer. There doesn’t seem to be consistency on food menus or services across the group pubs.”
