The chancel is 12/13th C. and may have had an apse, sedilia and piscina on south side of sanctuary are 13th C. The tower was added in the 15th C. The original timber framed spire was destroyed in the Great Storm of 1987 and was replaced with a steel framed version with chestnut shingles at 165 feet. The font is Norman and was lost for years until found nearby being used as a cattle trough! St Denys' church is well known for its wall paintings which date from 13th C. onwards. They were covered over and only discovered in 1893. There is an impressive 15th C. doom painting with Christ seated on a rainbow with the virgin Mary and St John. The Neville chapel is in the north east corner of the church, named after the Neville branch of the Abergavenny family who were Lords of the Manor from 1450. The church is a Grade I listed building." by Jules & Jenny (Creative Commons Attribution 2.0) / Cropped from original
