No staff available. Kitchen very dirty. Hardly any utensils. No coffee maker or kettle available. Rooms very small. Assistance from staff non exist . Online/texting with them very slow.
Would not stay agai or recommend
Staff were helpful and check in and out simple. Breakfast at nearby restaurant was ok.
But the basic room was not great. The headboard was ripped, floor was in need of repair etc.
Arrived and found that they don’t have reception only a key pad. Hadn’t got any email from Expedia letting me know this. We had no idea how to get in. A guy helped us and rang someone who gave us the pin and how to locate our room. Not a pleasant way to be introduced to Iceland.
Our room smelt like sewage. It was large but dark and very poorly furnished.
Next day for breakfast we didn’t have a voucher. Luckily the restaurant took our room number and let us have breakfast. Breakfast was fine. For what we paid it was extremely poor value. Kitchen facilities were so dirty could’ve used and not even one cup to be seen.
Great location and within walking distance of a lot of stuff!
Only complaint is the room was slightly dirty upon arrival. The housekeeping left behind used cleaning towels, a glove IN the toilet bowl, and the shower had stuff from the previous people left behind.
We did get breakfast down the street through the hotel each morning which was great!
Great simple stay for New Year with good quality breakfast

Great place if you need a room for the night. This is a 2 star hotel. It is very basic and an afforyolace to stay. The breakfast is awesome though! If you don't have high standards this a good place to stay.
We enjoyed our stay at the Brim Hotel! The rooms were spacious and clean! After a long trip around the ring road for 10 days we enjoyed our last two nights at the Brim Hotel! Very relaxing! Within walking distance from everything you can think of!
Some nice touches in the hotel (coffee machine with biscuits & social areas) Good breakfast but limited seating area.
Good size room, very comfy bed! Some bathrooms would benefit from some upgrade.
Location wise, not too much of a walk into the centre and parking was on the street.
We had a pleasant 3-night stay here. It's a little out of town but only takes 15 minutes or so to walk to the main eating and shopping area. The reception staff are off-site but the cleaning and catering staff were extremely helpful (e.g., we didn't receive an email in advance with check-in instructions, but everyone was very supportive and sorted it out quickly). The rooms and breakfasts are fine.

This is about a 12min walk to the edge of downtown. It is still within a lively area of hotels and restaurants. They have tried to update the interior which is fine, but it is a bit damp and has carpets in the main hallways. Heads-up they do not have a front desk or admin staff on site but they are very responsive through WhatsApp if you have any issues. I had to message them a couple times and they responded a d helped immediately! The single rooms are small but you get your own bathroom which is nice. There are couches and lounge area as well as a kitchen on the second floor. It is a reasonably priced place to stay and easy to access. Breakfast included was just amazing.
I loved the industrial vibe of this property. It was about a 25-30min walk in to the centre of Reykjavik which was an easy walk but I should have looked in to closer locations. The room had a slightly funny smell but was very quiet and comfortable. And the reception was very responsive when I asked for a hairdryer - they had staff drop one off within 30mins
Staff wasn't so kind. Because this is a self check-in hotel, communication, if you need assistance, is poor. Breakfast was good. Bed was comfortable. There isn't elevator so take this on mind if you are traveling alone and has heavy luggage

The idea of having a self check-in hotel is great, and convenient but sending the details to actually check in when you're standing out front (since most travelers need wi-fi to access emails) isn't overly convenient. Someone should oil the hinges of the doors as every single one of them creek. The property itself is quite clean and actually pretty cool, just needs some extra thought to bring it up a notch on making it perfect.
The breakfast served in the morning was quite good, enough options to fill you up. The wi-fi is strong, but only in the common areas, it basically doesn't work in the rooms.
All in all, not a bad place to stay (about 20 min walk to downtown Reykjavik).
DONT BOOK THIS !!: Dirty rooms, it is not like on the pictures. Not friendly staff.

I have to say I was a little skeptical at first based on some of the negative reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised by & pleased with the Brim Hotel! The check-in process was seamless with all the details provided to us via email. Our room was very spacious & comfortable—not to mention the high quality Solely organic shampoo, conditioner, & shower gel that I LOVED! The complimentary tea & coffee machine on the second floor was a very nice amenity, & we loved the breakfast! The croissants were the best I’ve had in a very long time! Additionally, the virtual concierge was extremely accommodating & granted us a late check out of 1pm for FREE! I challenge anyone to find all of these features at a remotely comparable price in Reykjavik! Thank you for a high quality stay at an affordable price!

Hostel feel- but warm and comfortable
Hostel vibe- some shared bathrooms etc.. average basic breakfast. It is a 12/15 minute walk down to centre which is convenient for able bodied people..it is warm and comfortable. Good selection of teas but no black breakfast tea available ..Good body lotion/ shampoos /conditioner etc
Staff and cleaning staff work hard. They cleaned my room well. Management need to spend money to improve facility.
The building badly need refurbishment/investment- fresh paint, replace damaged paintings.. damaged couch...buy new bath towels.. stained carpet needs shampoo..

Our first check-in was quite stressful. We arrived around 3:00 pm but couldn’t get into the hotel because there was no reception and we never received check-in instructions. Luckily, someone who was inside helped us open the door and called the hotel for assistance.
The room itself was nice and clean. However, for travelers without a car, be aware that the hotel is a long walk from most major sightseeing areas.
Breakfast was another issue. We were not given a breakfast voucher, and the next morning there was no breakfast set up in the breakfast room. We went up and down several times trying to figure out what was happening. Around 7:40 am, we finally saw a staff member who informed us that breakfast was served at a different location. We had to rush, as our tour started at 8:30 am.
The room was comfortable, but the toilet was not well connected to the wall so everytime you sat down on it, the whole thing would move and would make a loud clanking sound once you got off.
During our second check in, we still had not received check in information and there was nobody there to assist us so it was a hassle to get our luggage that we had stored as well as get the key to our room. They had originally placed us in a very small room but was able to change us to a different room after request.
Overall, the lack of clear communication regarding check-in and breakfast made the experience frustrating
