The hostal is well kept, the beds were pretty comfortable for a hostal. The breakfast and common areas such as bar and kitchen areas had a good atmosphere. Not a luxury hotel but I felt pretty safe and the location is perfect! The staff was friendly and helpful

Location was great! Definitely walkable to a convenience store and some local spots. The curtain rod on the bed was barely holding on - might be worth a quick upgrade to put rods that hold up. The place was clean...the fridges were def in need of a cleaning. That was def more than a week or two of old food and they were stuffed to a point where it just didn’t look right. Staff were super friendly. Would recommend and stay here again.

Lovely stay at the KEX Hotel/Hostel! We had 3 people in one of the private rooms/baths, and had a spectacular view of the waterfront, with easy walking distance to the town center for meals and shopping. The hotel/hostel was nicely maintained, with a nicely lit yet still cozy large lobby with coffee and tea available for people to relax, work, or just hang out. Nice to be able to spin a load of laundry and chatting with people from all over the world. And don't leave without having the amazing breakfast! Wow! Fresh fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and assortment of toasts and cereals. Just perfect to fuel up for the day's adventure. Highly recommend!!!

I think this is a great place to stay for these reasons: great location, 24 hour on site staff that were helpful! An age variety of travelers staying there, great walk ability to attractions, close to bus access, boat access, a grocery shop near by to purchase goods, a clean kitchen to cook in. The site itself is cool; there is a bar and gathering spots all over the site! Only downside, its hostel living and they pack in the peeps into the large capacity rooms, so bring a sheet for bunk bead privacy and be prepared to use eye masks and ear plugs( plugs are provided :)). It’s lively at this hostel and that part I enjoyed. Overall great experience. Place was clean, but as you know with hostels, bathrooms can get gross quickly. Other than that, I’ve got nothing but positive things to say about this place. Solid A!

It was a multi-room hostel so expectations should be managed. Rooms were clean with lockers inside for your valuables. Great vibe in the place. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a few floors above the hostel entrance so constant chatter into the night was not ideal for early morning departure. That said, was an excellent hostel that I can easily recommend.

I have never stayed in a hostel before, but this was a great base located centrally in Reykjavik. Lots of great coffee shops, tattoo shops and bars/restaurants nearby. You can get breakfast and coffee at KEX, too, which was convenient for one of the mornings we had to head out early. The bus stops for excursions were also within a 10-minute walk away. Overall, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
