Ballindalloch Vacations

Rooms were very basic. There was only one curtain in the window which only has two hooks one at either end and it was torn and stained. Paid for the hotel when I booked it but I received a phone call from a foreign woman in the afternoon stating that I hadn’t paid and demanding to know what time I was arriving. When I told her that I paid online she checked and apologised, but her attitude upset me. When we arrived at 5 p.m. the door was locked and we had to telephone the number left taped to the main entrance. The woman’s husband came and let us in after a while. This hotel is very, very substandard. No breakfast or catering, no key to get in late at night, again we had to phone a mobile number at 11.30pm to get in. Just terrible. I had to struggle up stairs with my luggage while the foreign man strode ahead of me seeing me struggle but would not help me. No lounge for guests just nothing but empty rooms in the main reception area not welcoming at all!! Expedia you should be ashamed to have this run down property in your books as it’s not fit for habitation and should be closed down!

The location was amazing, directly onto Athena stunning East Beach road. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We ordered the Scottish breakfast and it was freshly cooked and delicious. The room was a bit small with a tiny en-suite.

Studio room - functional kitchen, comfortable bed, plenty of space. Shampoo/shower gel a little too watered down to be functional. LVT flooring in room fitted on to a poor subfloor has caused the click system to fail resulting in uneven boards and multiple trip hazards around room. No iron, iron board or portable fan in the rooms either,

The staff were indifferent. The room was more than disappointing. The carpet and the floors were dirty. The shower basin didn’t drain and the toilet seat was loose. The linens were stained. The breakfast was adequate but no protein options were provided. I would not recommend the Waverly Guest House.

Most of the hotel is a building site, a lot of renovations in the main part. The room we had was at the back. It was small but adequate for the one night we were there. There were a couple of pieces of furniture with drawer space but no wardrobe or hooks to hang coats. The single beds were OK but there was only one pillow each, no extras. No food or drink facilities but a kettle, coffee/tea ...and Haribo in the room! Nice touch! It used to be a lovely hotel, years ago, and I hope the new owners can bring it back to that high standard again. At the moment it's OK for a night or two but pricey for what's offered. A good location.

Breakfast was excellent.
