Although not a resort or on the beach. Kura Botanica is in a prime location. You’re in Kura Hulanda village in downtown Otrabanda, Tons of restaurants, a gelato shop next door, bars, art, shops and a museum nearby. Meters away from Queen Emma’s bridge, Riff Fort. The staff were friendly and helpful, the pool was a nice spot to relax and there a bar by the pool area. We paid for the breakfast and are glad we did. The breakfast area is located at the Freedom cafe which is like 4/5min walk away (not hard to find you can also use google map). For breakfast they had: scrambled and boiled eggs you could also request an omelette, fruits, oatmeal, breads, croissants, sausage, pastries, cereal, coffee, tea, juice… there was something for everyone You can walk across the floating pontoon bridge to get to Punda right across the water or take the ferry when the bridge is closed, there are also many stores as well as crafts shop located in that area. Plasa Bieu is a must go for truly local cuisine in Punda but make sure to go early. It’s the perfect location if you don’t plan on renting a car. And if you do rent a car opt for a compact, the streets are narrow.

If you like air conditioning, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else! Our room felt around 85°F throughout our stay. We traveled with two other couples, and one couple switched rooms only to find the same problem. When we complained at the front desk, we were given a $10 fan. An employee told us the air conditioning throughout the hotel was basically broken, which certainly seemed to be the case. The employee also said the hotel had done nothing to fix the problem or acknowledge it. The casino was unbearably hot, too. Service made the stay even worse. Many employees were so rude and seemed annoyed that guests were there. God forbid you asked a question! They were some of the rudest people I’ve ever met. The bars repeatedly ran out of basics like cups, ice, mint for mojitos, and even beer. How does an all-inclusive resort run out of beer—or freaking ice? Once something ran out, it wasn’t available again that day. Between the heat, poor service, and lack of basic supplies, this was a miserable experience. I would never stay at this resort again.

The AC did not work properly the rooms were very hot.

Wonderfully restored historic building. Room was large and bed super comfy, would definitely stay there again.

The room was really clean, everything about it was well maintained, everything you need is there for an apartment. Everything works great and the backyard area is very calm and nice. The only thing that bothered me was the water pressure for the shower, other than that, everything was great.

A beautifully classic building for this hotel. The location is perfect we were able to walk into Punda despite having a car, the walk back to the hotel was lovely.It’s a short drive from Mood beach and other beaches on that end. We were fortunate to get parking each time. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful from check in right tho the office was closed when we left at 7:45am. The room was clean and seemed recently refurbished. There was a tv, AC, a big bed, thick curtains kept the light out. The pool area was clean and I cant stop raving about the customer service from Tony and Dorian…. I hope I got their names right. We had breakfast (the St Tropez platter was delish!), lunch and drinks too. Everything was awesome. CONS: We were in the building that has rooms 25,27 etc and from day 1 we kept getting an unpleasant smell. It was like wet carpet or wet stinky gym shoes. It was so bad that each time we stepped out of our room we held our breaths until we were in the courtyard. Imagine facing this for 3 flights of steps. Reception told us that it was an old building & it happens when it rains, but no rain fell. The steps were another story. I’m not lazy but after exploring and enjoying alcohol it was a task.. OMG so many mosquitoes in the stairwells and room. I was killing them daily. Noise from the inner lobby area came up & the thin walls didnt help. I had to bang on the window to get them to hush at 1:45AM. Maybe some signs asking for quiet in that area would help.
