“The room was lovely apart from the heat as we stayed during a UK heatwave. A fan was provided luckily especially as our room was up in the eaves. It would have been nice to have had a tv but I guess they want you to spend time (and money) in the pub not in your room. The kitchen area would have also benefitted from a small fridge so the milk and water (replenished daily) could have been kept cold. We were on room only basis, however, we did eat breakfast in the pub on our first morning. The food...

“I enjoy a hotel that makes you feel like the location… not some generic place that looks the same in every location. The Porterhouse was great in that regard, made me feel like I was in Oxford. Clean and comfy room and great location. Staff was great and helpful in every way! Breakfast was nice. I would definitely stay again!”

“This older home was well maintained and comfy. It was close to the centre of Banbury and down the hill to Banbury Cross and the statue of the lady on the horse. Breakfast is included and there is a wide range of cold or hot meal options; there is a kettle in the room with tea bag’s and coffee packs with sugar and UHT milk made it easy to have a hot drink in your room early morning or in the evening. “I arrived later on in the evening so reception was closed. Contact number was provided on the door, which I called and was quickly guided to the location of my key to gain entry. Room was really homely and clean. Hotel has a car park onsite. I didn’t eat or drink at the hotel but they do have a bar.”

“Great location for peace and quiet and walking into and around abingdon. Rooms basic but nice, mattresses could be more comfortable but were acceptable and the breakfast great and plentiful. My second and definitely not last visit.”
