“The Royal Oak has a wonderful location in a quiet village setting and visitors can expect a relaxing change of pace. The countryside around is spectacular for England and the people are without exception friendly and helpful. I'm perhaps biased because my family lived in Gt Ayton in the early 19th Century and although I was born in North Yorkshire today, as a visiting southerner it's very much my home ground. “Lovely room, comfortable bed with all facilities needed. Really nice cooked breakfast with many options. Very well run by a lovely couple. Convenient for travel, bus stop outside the door for buses to Whitby and surrounding area. Well recommended. ”

“My family of three stayed in the Nidderdale EnSuite room. It was plenty big enough and the beds were very comfortable. Nice touches included tea and biscuits awaiting our arrival in our room. We did not partake in breakfast due to other plans with family, but I have no doubt it would have been lovely. Amanda had great communication prior to our stay. I would definitely recommend it.”
