Vacations Close To Parish of the Risen Christ

My wife and I spent a week at GR Solaris Cancun and overall had a good vacation, but that was more because of the time we spent together than because of the resort itself. The highlight of our stay was our oceanfront room with a private plunge pool. We spent most of the week sitting by the pool, enjoying the ocean view, watching beautiful sunsets, relaxing, and catching up on much-needed rest. For someone who normally gets up around 3:00 a.m. for work, this trip gave me the chance to slow down, take naps, and recharge. We also enjoyed exploring the area. Our excursions to Tulum, an ATV adventure, and swimming in a cenote were some of the best parts of the trip. We paid for a deep-tissue massage that was excellent and worth every dollar. As for the resort itself, our experience was mixed. We felt there was a noticeable difference in how members and non-members were treated. Several restaurants, bars, and amenities were either closed or had limited availability during our stay. We understand it was a slower time of year, but it often felt like many of the advertised options weren't fully available. We were invited multiple times to attend a membership presentation. After considering it, we declined. The perks being offered simply weren't enough to justify the commitment for us. We enjoy traveling to different destinations and don't see ourselves returning to the same resort often enough for a membership to make sense. Would we return? Probably not. Air conditioner poor

Clean room and breakfast

Positives: The property is beautiful, the restaurants were terrific overall, beautiful beach is easy to access, and the pool was great (lively, but not an irritating loud party). Also, at Caprichio, the buffet (they do also offer a la carte) for both breakfast and lunch was literally the nicest & tastiest I've ever experienced! The Staff is wonderful. Negatives: We got talked into an upgrade for a swim-out - the water was too cold to use, and the room had a number of maintenance issues that weren't all resolved. As soon as you finish check-in, they have people trying to talk you into sitting down for a discussion about Membership (this seems to be the new term for timeshare-type thing) - it was a little exhausting trying to avoid them and just begin enjoying the stay. I really wish I had been given information about entertainment options at the property or adjacent property, but there never seemed to be any. And, I could never figure out how to order room service.
