St Margaret's church has a round tower dating from the 12th century, with an octagonal top that was added later. Sadly, the church is kept locked. Old Catton covers an area of 211 hectares and, as evidenced by archaeological finds, its history dates back to the Stone Age; documented history begins in 1086 with the Domesday Book.
