“Easy check in at the bar, our room was small but fine for us, the only thing lacking is a mini fridge. The hosts and locals are great, friendly and down to earth people. The food is excellent and they serve well kept beers at a reasonable price. I would definately reccomend this place and we will stay again. 👍🇬🇧 ”

“The Village Inn was the perfect place for a stopover while travelling further south. Ideally located a short distance from Northallerton. Large car park, restaurant with a really good menu choice and very reasonably priced. The room was extremely clean and comfortable with heating you can control yourself. Powerful shower and very hot water. Breakfast was great, with choices of full English, Vegan, cereals etc. I would highly recommend the Village Inn to everybody looking for somewhere to stay...

“Castle itself is great. The annexe rooms are very small, basic. Bathroom again is tiny and cramped. Its a shower /bath which if mobility issues would be hard to get in and out. Shower ran at lukewarm . Would be better to rip out and install standing walking shower. Rooms all need a full refurb.”

“The room was tired and Amenities were poor. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. Reception welcome was far from a welcome. The bathroom was filthy with black mould marks and the Bathroom door was completely rotten. The walls were paper thin - I was kept awake until after midnight. I phoning reception 3 times to ask if the room next door could turn their television down which was blaring for hours. After the third phone call over 2 hours they eventually did at 10.30pm. They communicated very promptly over messages and calls, and gave us clear information about parking, amenities, and check-in/check-out which made everything stress-free from the start. “Right in the middle of town. Walkable to everywhere you need to go. Staff were very friendly. Room was basic but had everything we needed or wanted! Kettle in the room was great for some tea. Breakfast buffet was awesome. Would def stay here again if I come back to Darlington”

“Había comida estropeada en el frigorífico, que no se podía abrir del olor tan desagradable que despedía. En el lavaplatos había cubiertos y vasos sucios. Detrás de un radiador había colillas. En un apartamento para cuatro sólo había dos sillas, y el sofá está completamente hundido. Nos dieron la llave del apartamento equivocada,tuvimos que esperar al responsable casi media hora, de noche y con mucho frío. Llegó riéndose.”

“Staff were lovely and incredibly attentive- nothing too much trouble. Amazing breakfast selection- all fresh and cooked to order. Big room - well maintained- lovely view to garden - we were in Camilla. 10 mins into town but situated in countryside near parks, historic houses and museums. Easy reach for James Cook Hospital. Lovely country house hotel - obviously newly created in beautiful Edwardian house. We will be back”
