Our getaway to Fernandina Beach and stay at Hoyt House was excellent. Our hosts David,Lindy and Katie were so helpful, as was all the staff. (Shout out to Sydney and Amanda.) Our hosts helped arrange tours for us and were helpful with recommendations on food, entertainment and tours. The morning breakfasts were top of the line. Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. And the pool was a god send for relaxing. Happy hour at the bar was a great way to meet other guests, or just enjoy a glass of wine or drink. Definitely recommend Hoyt House and will return again.

The Florida House is a beautiful, historic inn that has seen better days. There was no innkeeper on the property, no one to greet us, no communication as to how to check in. A kind soul from the business next door showed us where we might find our key. Our room was basically as I expected from seeing the pictures on line, except that the toilet seat was broken, the jets in the tub did not work, there weren't enough towels, the bed was so high that you needed a step stool to climb in and none was provided. The inn's bar was tended by a lovely woman that didn't really know what was going on there either. Torrential rains brought dirty puddles and debris down on the outside walkways. The complimentary "breakfast" was set up in the room where a staff was in and out constantly setting up for the weekend brunch-not complimentary. The oranges were moldy, the yogurts were old, the cofffee cups (paper) smelled moldy. There was plenty of bread in plastic bags, and some sweet waffles. If they had dared to charge for this, I would not have paid. I saw only one staff member, once after a rain, using a very loud electric blower.

Nice place, good location to enjoy the beach, restaurant near the hotel, the pool area is small but nice, good for kids
