“The hotel itself was in a run down condition and needs a lot of money spent on it. My room, had windows into the atrium so my view was of stairs and walls. It also meant there was no airflow, and on this very hot summer, it made it difficult to sleep or be comfortable in any way. The lights in my bathroom did not work, which I mentioned to the staff, and the door self closing mechanism did not have a soft close function so that I was woken each day before 5 am by the slamming of doors. “Wonderful staff. Old building with no AC, which as a traveling american in summer was an adjustment but lots of history to the building and the staff was super helpful. Beautiful views as well!”

“Breakfast lounge was sparse, no plates so had to use a lid from something else to butter and eat toast. Parking was easy and useful in The Lakes. Room was nice and bed was large and comfy, downside was the heat from the large floor to ceiling windows in the sitting lounge at the front with no way to cool it down. Be better if we weren’t having a heatwave! Overall it was a nice enough place, well positioned for Ambleside and Waterhead and parking was a plus.”

“Whilst my room was small, it had all I needed. The highlight was the staff: reception and bar/restaurant staff were excellent. Polite, attentive, efficient. Breakfast was very good with a wide choice. The restaurant menu for dinner was ok but sometimes a wider simpler choice would have been nice.”
