“The New Dungeon Ghyll is a very authentic Hotel in a very scenic environment, in a beautiful valley, close to many walks. We stayed in the New Dungeon for a weekend and we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast room was nice and welcoming. Breakfast was very good and included full English breakfast next to...

“Beautiful property out of the bustle of nearby Ambleside or Hawkshead. Lovingly cared for and staffed. Gorgeous views, delicious breakfast and dinner, and a hot shower. Hikes out the door. 5 minute walk to Beatrix Potter's home at Hill Top. We hope to return.”

“The property was was pretty much as expected, The room was clean and big. The issue we had was there did not seem to be sufficent sound deading between the rooms, as we could hear voices from other rooms. Could not hear what they were saying, but could near the noise. Luckily they went to bed about the same time we did and did not wake up before we did, but it not what we wanted or expected. It was in a very isolated location. That was not a problem for us, but something to be aware of. ...

“Nice hotel although a little tired. Location was great. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. I would happily stay again. X”

“The Duke of Edinburgh hotel was a gem. I don’t know the history of the building but it’s older; that doesn't mean bad. They have done a great job of renovating the rooms, or at least ours was. It was one of the best rooms we’ve had on our trip. We also had dinner and a breakfast while there and the food at the restaurant/pub was excellent. It’s a short walk from the train station and I would recommend it for your stay.”
