“We thought the hotel in general and the room were amazing. We have stayed in nice hotels in different parts of the world and this was up there. The design touches all around the hotel were outstanding. What let it down (and why we reduced a star) was being charged for parking (it was not a cheap booking) and the lack of EV charging points.”

Advised them we had just got quietly married and got back to find they’d decorated our bed! So sweet ❤️”

“The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen. I think Expedia have been misleading not detailing the facts about that particular...

“Great location Very good staff. The Winander section has its own very helpful staff and breakfast with great views. The room we had was a very spacious and well designed. My only comment was a shaving mirror would have been useful given the distance to the actual mirror. The spa access for hotel Guests was somewhat more limited than expected and the outdoor areas were completely separate and require extra payment. What is left in the swimming pool area is a little bit more limited than similar...

“The hotel was very tired and run down. There wasn’t a phone in the room, so we couldn’t call for ice or a new bath robe (as the one we had was dirty from a previous guest). The room was too hot and there wasn’t any air con. There was mould in the bathroom. The towels were supposed to be white but more greyish. The bar area was very pleasant, so was the swimming pool. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel really needs some TLC with the fixtures and fittings, as well as towels / dressing...
