“We were not prepared for how much the beds would be slanting and difficult to sleep in. The floor of the room was very up and down, but there was no leveling platform underneath the bed, so we spent each night sleeping at a most uncomfortable angle, trying not to fall out of bed. The musician in the bar on Saturday night was directly under our room and we could not sleep until 10pm, which with jet lag was not helpful. Very friendly staff and great breakfasts, however.”

Location-wise it is well situated for access to the surrounding towns, particularly Hereford, though one should note that it sits right on the main road and this does lead to quite some road noise until late at night and from early in the morning. “Stayed for two nights as a stop over whilst going homeward. Wanted to have a look around the area. Room was small but adequate. Clean with en-suite shower. Ate in the dining area of the pub both nights and enjoyed the food. Informal but friendly service by all, and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Recommend a walk to the canal and then the walk to Gloucester on the tow path. It’s well paved and flat and about three miles.”
