Unfortunately, same desk clerk told us hotel was in Dumfries which has a road with a similar which led u s to council housing at midnight. “A lovely modern and spacious room with a little kitchenette and nice touches. Restaurant food was delicious. Great value and for great accommodation. Safe secure parking.”

“Despite retaining the old pub name, this is now a B&B only, so don't expect a bar or evening meals. The accommodation was good if a little quirky. Our bedroom had polished wood floors rather than carpet, but the beds were comfortable and the location was quiet. Breakfast (continental) is a help yourself arrangement and was fine. “Really comfortable, quiet and clean bedroom, the bathroom was on the small side and not as nice as the rest of the room (still nice enough). The staff were friendly but seemed very busy so they just gave us the key and pointed us in the direction of the outbuiling where our bedroom was located. If you have heavy luggage or struggle with stairs our room would not be for you as there were some very steep stairs.”

“Upon arrival at the gueshouse (an hour early, our mistake), the door opened and we were faced with a rude, angry woman, whom we assumed was the host. She told us we could not come in and only after a bit of pleading, she allowed us to leave our luggage in the front entry. After speaking to a Carlisle business owner who was familiar with her, and looking up recent reviews, we decided to look for other accommodations. “Room wasn’t very clean. We used our sanitized hand wipes to clean the tub/ shower bioreactors using it. A hand hold would have been helpful for getting in and out of the elevated tub/shower.”

“Amazing staff, great location and parking The food is average and the menu is very limited, the room (19) has been updated recently but was right by the the main road and a noisy extract fan on the floor below which came on at 4.15am every morning. Overall it’s a nice big hotel that has been in the process of renovation for the last few years. It would be a much better experience if they could expand the menu and quality of the food.”
