“Clean and cosy”

“We used the Hare & hounds as a stopover on our way home but will give serious consideration to returning to explore the Lakes from there”

“Lovely room. We booked the dog friendly room and we had dog bowls, and a doggy treat pack including toy, treats & poo bags. Nice little touch! Great food as always, lovely full English breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.”

“Charming house in great setting. All very clean. Most staff helpful but could not get double room turned into singles on arrival mid afternoon as no housekeeping staff available even offered to sort out ourselves but to no avail. Main meal ok but not as good as previous experience. Lack of lift will prevent aged parents returning.”

“Well located and great service. Incredible surroundings ”

“The reason I haven’t scored 5 is that Expedia sold us a room that had issues with noise / cooking smells as it’s above the kitchen and is noisey and smelly when the staff are cooking. We stayed in a room named Helvellyn and Expedia didn’t state any issues with any rooms. If we had booked direct with the queens head it details the room helvellyn as having issues with noise etc due to it’s proximity to the kitchen. I think Expedia have been misleading not detailing the facts about that particular...

“We got to this property by chance. What a fun surprise. It is an old but very well kept inn. It has many beautiful hikes around. It is in the middle of nowhere. And that makes it even more fantastic. ”

“Everything was lovely from the room , the lovely extras ( shortbread biscuits , lovely bathroom products) the bed was really comfortable. The staff were great and the breakfast was excellent. We also charged the car overnight , which was really convenient.”

“Nice, Big Room! Beautiful Decorated House. Helpful and Friendly staff.”
