Photo "View along the ha-ha. The ha-ha separates Raveningham Hall and garden from the adjoining grazing land of the park. Raveningham Hall > 1338001 is the home of Sir Nicholas Bacon and his family. The surrounding garden was designed by Sir Nicolas Bacon's mother, who filled it with rare plants, shrubs and trees. The kitchen garden is 200 years old and the old melon pits have been restored. Sir Nicholas and Lady Bacon have developed a new herb garden, planted an arboretum, introduced contemporary sculptures and created a lake to celebrate the millennium. The garden is open daily. A ha-ha is a dry ditch with a fence, wall or hedge running along its bottom, forming the boundary to a garden or park. It is designed so as not to interrupt the view, and to be invisible until closely approached. The originator of the ha-ha is believed to be the English garden designer Charles Bridgeman (1690-1738)." by Evelyn Simak (Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0) / Cropped from original
