To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at Riu Palace Macao in Punta Cana. I booked an Ocean View Junior Suite with Elite Service because I expected a premium vacation experience. Unfortunately, the accommodations and service did not match what was advertised or what I paid for. Upon arrival, I was assigned a Junior Suite with two twin beds instead of the room I reserved. The room also did not provide the clear ocean view that was promised. I paid extra for these upgrades and feel that I did not receive the accommodations I purchased. The television in my room did not work, and I had to contact the front desk twice before someone finally fixed it. Throughout my stay, I found many staff members to be unhelpful and unwilling to resolve concerns promptly. The Elite Service package was especially disappointing and offered little value for the additional cost. My biggest frustration involved the parasailing excursion sold on the resort's beach. We were told photos would cost $60, paid for them, and never received them. When I reported the issue, I was told the hotel was not responsible for vendors operating on its property. That response was unacceptable and left me feeling that guests are not adequately protected. I do appreciate that the resort handled occasional power outages quickly. I also enjoyed the food, nightly entertainment, Wellness Spa, and the Club, which were excellent.

As a solo traveler, i was anxious and skeptical because it was my first time traveling internationally by myself. This resort put all of my anxiety at ease. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, making sure you’re vacation starts as soon as you walk through the doors. Also the lobby at the resort smelled SO good. The bars were never super crowded and you never felt like the resort was crowded as well. The main pool is very nice and clean, aesthetically pleasing, and is below the mediterranean restaurant which had great options. The italian restaurant had the best food, and hibachi had a good food too. The only negative was the room service food after hours was cold and bland and took an hour to come, as well as the beach being full of seaweed so you couldn’t swim in it. (out of the resorts control). All in all, a beautiful resort for good drinks and good relaxation.

The resort is attractive, well maintained, and the staff was consistently friendly and hardworking. We never had a bad interaction, and service throughout was very good. The beach is spacious with plenty of chairs available, so we never had to reserve early for our family of five. The ocean was warm and great for swimming, but the water wasn’t the clear turquoise shown in photos due to a lot of sargassum (seaweed). They do work to clean it, but it can be heavy at times. Pools were nice overall. The adult pools were much quieter and more relaxing, while the family pools could get quite loud during the day. Food was good with lots of buffet and restaurant options, but labeling at the buffet needs improvement, as many items were unclear or missing labels. Also, the buffet floor became very slippery after cleaning, so be careful. Our villa was clean and comfortable, but not all buildings have elevators, so upper floors require carrying luggage upstairs. Some areas do have elevators, but it depends on location. We also had a broken doorknob that was reported multiple times but never fixed, and one room service order was never delivered. Overall, we had a great family vacation. Despite a few issues, the friendly staff, relaxing atmosphere, warm beach, and easy access to seating made it enjoyable.

Stayed there 12 years ago. Much better food, much better rooms and definitely much better sandy beaches then than now.
