“The meals were excellent both for quality and price, staff very helpful. The bed was comfortable however the windows did not close entirely. It was quite warm so not a major problem for us but the windows needed refurbishment so they be opened or closed easily. The electric shower was very weak. These issues were relatively minor given the pluses of staff, food and comfortable beds”

“The Lairds House is a unique place to stay. It has an historic charm and well furnished hotel rooms. I also ate there and the meal was good, but did suffer from an upset stomach after. In the morning as a result I had a very simple breakfast, avocado on toast which was slightly below par. My main concern was having booked through Expedia there was a dog fee which wasn’t clear of £15. “I stayed in the dog friendly room which was ok but not great. The carpets were stained and when we first walked in the room we could smell dog it wasn't a fresh smell. There was a half used toilet roll in our bathroom and no fan so it steamed up quite quickly. The room was at the bottom of the beer garden so was very noisy which wasn't that much of a problem. “Massively overpriced accommodation. It is clean and conveniently located, but staff only seems to be interested in running the downstairs pub/restaurant and you are pretty much on your own from the start to finish if you ever have any issues. I had a room with a balcony, but the balcony was somewhat disappointing. The television is so small that you are lucky even to notice it on the opposite wall.”
