“If you're a all creatures great and small fan, it's perfect, as you walk in you actually walk into the "drovers". If you're not a fan it will take you back it's an unchanged farmers country pub, but don't let that deter you, the rooms are stunningly clean, the staff friendly and very attentive.”

“Beautiful place. The owner was present and asked us questions.”

“Easy parking , friendly and helpful staff, excellent clean and modern room. Dinner menu limited, but great breakfast and plenty of it”

“Clean airy room .. Friendly staff . Lovely stay . Very happy thank you .”

“We were walking the Pennine Way and stopped off at Bongate House after reaching Dufton and after walking/backpacking for most of the day. We had a very friendly welcome from Ann who on arrival looked after our every need. Breakfast was ample and tasty. The property suited our needs perfectly. Thank you Ann!”

“Very difficult access for parking”

“The property was was pretty much as expected, The room was clean and big. The issue we had was there did not seem to be sufficent sound deading between the rooms, as we could hear voices from other rooms. Could not hear what they were saying, but could near the noise. Luckily they went to bed about the same time we did and did not wake up before we did, but it not what we wanted or expected. It was in a very isolated location. That was not a problem for us, but something to be aware of. ...

“This has to be the craziest room I've ever stayed in, in a good way. The floors were sloped the furniture was sloping in line with the floors. Bed comfy amd bathroom was nice and clean. If you are after a quirky stay then this place is for you.”

“Would have liked a fridge in our room”

“LA Habitación amplia y con una bonita ventana que daba al rio. Buen servicio de desayuno. Muy bien el personal de recepción sobre todo Sophie. Buen gim y piscina cubierta. Cruzabas el puente y estabas en el centro de Kendal.Kendal un poco aburrido con horarios muy restringidos para comer.Cerca de la estación de autobuses para los lagos, bien comunicada.”

“Friendly staff”

“Food was good. Luxury room was not luxurious. Very small. Carpets on stairs need seeing to as are a trip hazard. Bar area, windows need a very good clean! Cobwebs and dust must have been there quite a while.”
