“The bathroom was where the main issues were. The toilet pipes were very dirty on the outside and the window frame looked like it had either dirt or black mould on one side of it. The bathroom door was incredibly clunky to open and when the exhaust fan was turned on it shuddered for a few seconds first before working properly. The shower also was incredibly dusty in spots such as on top of railings. Everything else was fine.”

8. Ryde Inn

“Fairly dirty room. A si gel sheet covered the mattress and it was an old hard mattress. The door to the outside area was only secured with a flimsy slide bolt that seemed to be made from aluminium. There were a few small cockroaches under the kettle base. The shower was a positive except they when you opened the shower door the shower head was actually above the shower head and the door opened to the shower head side as you could only open it inwards. Old decor inside and external needs a...

10. WM Hotel Bankstown

“Easy parking right outside the front door to the room, very convenient. The room was spacious and clean, it had everything I needed including a kitchenette. From the Hume Highway the entrance looked a bit unkempt but that is the neighbouring property with the long grass. The WM Hotel staff were very nice and polite, I would stay again. It was a close walk to various food locations and the shopping centre is not far down the highway.”

18. 175 Hotel Westmead

Westmead

“Unfortunately, a catalogue of errors turned a straightforward overnight stay into an extremely stressful experience. I booked specifically because I was working back-to-back 14-hour shifts and needed to avoid a three-hour round trip home. I arrived at 10pm, collected my key as instructed and was allocated Room 218. After 20 minutes searching different floors and hotel maps, I couldn’t find it. The out-of-hours number provided didn’t work. When I eventually reached an after-hours staff member...
