Vacations Close To High Point Cay

The room wasn’t a hotel. It was an apartment. The apartment had visible black mold growing on the walls and the furniture. And sheets were slept in and dirty and the mattress was dirty. The sinks also hadn’t been cleaned.

The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I’ve stayed at the RIU in the Dominican Republic as well as Mexico and the staff and experience is always top tier.

Overall the hotel is nice but not 4 stars. Staff was friendly and for the most part the hotel was clean. I paid extra for a room with a garden view. The garden consisted of a couple palm trees and dirt. Nothing worth paying extra. The house keeping service leaves a lot to be desired, we had two people in the room and we received two bath towels, 1 face towel and 1 wash cloth. When I called to complain the phone just rang and nobody picked up. When I finally got thru after several attempts the complaint was rectified. Next day they only took 1 wash cloth and gave one new one. So we were left with one clean wash cloth and one dirty one. This continued throughout my stay. Fitness center was hot and had an odd smell. One more thing, I had no idea of what services the hotel offered such as was there room service, what time does it end, what time do they start breakfast or any of the hotel amenities. Most hotels have something in the room telling you these things this hotel did not. I thing they had a special website for guests but the website was down throughout my stay.

The resort is fine, crowded and a bit overpriced for what it is but overall okay. My complaint is about hotel management and security not following up with an attempted assault that happened on property. They downplayed and did not take this seriously. I filed a report and was never given any follow up.

Sandyport Beach Resort was the perfect place for me and my teen daughter. We wanted a low key resort where we were treated well but didn’t have to fight crowds. We had the lagoon beach practically to ourselves, it was amazing. We loved Da Conch Shack which was perfect for afternoon drinks or snacks by the pool. Alex, Bass, Miss Knowles and others treated us great there! The front desk helped whenever needed. As a small resort there weren’t many restaurants on site but within five minutes, there was a beautiful bar with live music and amazing cocktails, there were a few great family/casual instruments, at a convenience store around the corner, where we could get pretty much anything we needed. There wasn’t as much shopping as I would’ve hoped for, but then again we didn’t venture too far from the resort. Oh and the prices were so reasonable! If you don’t need huge waterslides and fanfare do yourself a favor, stay in a peaceful gorgeous place and just relax.

Was surprised to learn they didn’t give my son the king bedroom I had reserved and paid for. Not did I receive a refund for the difference.
