Vacations Close To Hau'ula Forest Reserve

I gave the amenities a usefulness of 2 because the room we were staying in was too small for the 2 double beds with metal supports (feet) and my wife broke her toe on one of the metal bed supports on the 2nd day of our four day stay. We planned to go kayaking the next day but could not. The property is not ADA compliant and the room we were staying in had 18 steps up to the parking lot and about 15 steps down to the pool. After the visit to the emergency room my wife was basically a prisoner in the room with a painful broken toe. If it weren't for the balcony she would have had no where to go. To make matters worse because of the broken toe my wife had to miss our son's wedding, which was the reason we came to Hawai'i in the first place. When we checked out nothing was offered in the way of compensation for the pain and inconvenience. Oh yes, and on the day we left, I was cleaning up the dishes to leave the room nice and the kitchen sink water would not shut off! Maintainence tried to fix it but when we left after checking out it was still running! Don't get me wrong the property is beautiful. I only wish we could have enjoyed it.

This hotel gets the job done if you are looking for a place to crash that’s close to the beach. With that being said, the MOTEL (all rooms enter from outside) is really, really old. Like 1970s tile bathrooms, slat shutter windows that don’t fully close (even when windows are closed they are essentially open in terms of noise and airflow), and very dated furniture. A city trash truck camps out in back of the hotel every morning starting at 5:45am for 30 minutes and makes ungodly whirling and beeping sounds that because of the ventilation system, mean that you are guaranteed an early and loud wake up call. There is a great karaoke bar located in the hotel lobby and starting at 8pm until 2am you’ll be treated to drunken tourists singing the songs of their people. We didn’t eat at the bar but the scent of the food they sell there wafts up into all the rooms (we were on the 5th floor) and it smells delicious. We travel a lot and weren’t expecting a fancy establishment but when we returned to Waikiki we will stay elsewhere.

This place is beautiful. We unfortunately did not use any of the amenities which kinda sucks pain a resort fee. We ended up exploring the island a little bit more so. This place is super awesome to see turtles so if you’re looking for snorkeling seems like a great location, and if you’re looking for shopping, it’s a great location. The pools were a little overcrowded, but it is what it is.
