“The hotel is delightfully old school. Table cloths in the large dining room and carpeted floors making for a peaceful atmosphere where one could be heard. The balcony in our spacious bedroom was a joy from where we were able to occasionally see red deer. The staff were enormously helpful in moving luggage - there are no lifts. All in all a delightful experience.”

“The location of this guest house was excellent, good (free) parking and a delicious breakfast. The room was a bit dirty (hairs that were not mine, cup rings on the glass topped dresser, toothpaste marks on the glasses/mug). I appreciated the lamps with USB chargers and a window that opened. The host/owner was pleasant and friendly”

“The only positive from our stay, if it didn’t Happen, would have actually been a blessing . The front desk agreed to help us check in later than possible by leaving key in lockbox. Unfortunately, same desk clerk told us hotel was in Dumfries which has a road with a similar which led u s to council housing at midnight. Once we discovered the error we have another 1 hour 15 minute ride to “hotel”. Upon arriving, key was in lockbox, room was large but beds were from the 19th century, incredibly...

“An old period home, exterior is in need of maintenance and cleaning. Gardens around property could be maintained better. Interior of property is lovely and generally upkept well. The room was an average size, just a double bed, it was comfortable. Furnishings nice. Bathroom had a bath but it's in need of renovations and a good bleaching. Nice lounge area to sit for a drink. Billiards room was wonderful to play snooker. Restaurant for dinner was ok. A continental breakfast is avail, very minimal...

“This is a cracking flat within a short walk of Dumfries town centre. From the outside, the flats don’t look too inspiring, but it’s clearly been renovated recently and it’s been done really nicely. The two rooms are pretty much identical doubles, and the living room/kitchen is a good size. Nice views of the river from most rooms, and a lovely small balcony coming off the main living area. Would definitely come back if in the area.”

“A very nice little hotel with tidy clean room with lots of little touches such as coffees, teas biscuits etc. Excellent evening meal at reasonable cost. Good breakfast with good choice. Friendly service and nice decor in dining room. Good location just off the A75 road.”
