“This place was spectacular!! We wish would could have stayed longer!! The cottage was beautifully done, the staff was so kind, and how cool to have sheep and cows right out our front door!! We highly recommend staying here and we will be back!!!”

“Comfortable room, friendly staff. Had pleasant meal one night, and enjoyed cooked breakfast. Spent few hours in pub lounge, great atmosphere. Small point, we were in room 9 which was noisy at night due to extractor fan out side. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.”

“Nice clean room. Large, had 2 single and double beds. Room was off the courtyard, so easy to access and minimal noise carried over from the pub. Pleasant service. Note that need to use key card to turn on power in the room. Would stay again.”

“Beautiful classic Georgian country Pub. Big comfortable room with a huge bathroom. The bed was also big and comfortable. We didn’t eat at the pub so cannot comment on that, but the village has several nice places to eat.”

“Loud. Incredibly loud. First, they gave no indication that the room I was staying in opened directly onto the street. The door lock was strange, perhaps just something I'm not used to, but I struggled with ensuring that it was locked during the night. (I work in a technical field, I'm not dim, but jeez, I felt stupid) Considering people milling around outside the pub at night were quite drunk, shouty, and possessed of questionable decision making, I ended up putting a chair in front of the door...

“Best location to experience the Lake District and very close to both Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. Idyllic town, beautifully decorated rooms, comfortable and clean. The food was also tasty and worth the visit!”
