“Thoroughly recommended”

“3 night stay over Easter. Pub was clean and comfortable although bed mattress was very firm which meant disturbed sleep for stay. Owners very welcoming. Breakfast was 8-9am which I felt was a little early as we usually like to have a lazy wake up without having to have alarm on so wasnt as relaxing as we would have liked. Breakfast was good but simple so would not have wanted to stay any longer. 1 or 2 nights at the most. No fruit or alternatives and not asked if we preferred eggs cooked...

“Historic place to stay in the centre of Buxton, very handy for all the sights, bars and restaurants. Room was fine and very comfortable. Public areas a little tired but that didn't detract from our stay. Excellent breakfast.”

“First the positives. Helpful cheerful staff and good facilities: dining room and bar were nicely decorated and set out. The food served at breakfast was very good. Location of hotel is perfect for exploring Bakewell town centre, which is beautiful. Negatives. We had a room in the annexe across the road. The car parking for the hotel is a bit limited: so first come, first served. This annexe room would have been fine in autumn, but in a heatwave (25 degrees Celsius outside) it was essentially...
