“Lovely stay, just a few yards from the sea front. Lisa and Christophe made us feel very welcome. The swimming pool was great and just what you need after a long drive or busy day around Torbay. The breakfasts we enjoyed each morning were delicious and kept us full throughout the day. Would definitely return and highly recommend a stay at the lovely Charterhouse if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Torquay.”

“The price was very reasonable for a 4 star property but it certainly did not feel 4 star as the property was very tired and in need of a refresh and update. Also disappointing that the wifi did not reach our room. However the staff were attentive and friendly and the location perfect for the seafront”

“Clean room but bathroom could do with an update. Staff were really friendly and helpful. My only disappointment was no parking, it's a free for all on the road and we had to park in the next road! Apart from that it was great 👍”

“Staff & breakfast excellent. Room was very clean but it was very hot and the drains smelt at times. This severely impacted my sleep. My rating is purely based on that, suspect if i went when it was cooler it would be different. One easy thing to help would be for the windows to be opened fully.”

“Large clean room with sofa bed and a double bed. Small fridge and hairdryer. Large bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Shower floods bathroom everytime due to not having a door/screen to floor meaning you have to use 3 towels on floor to stop this, bad design in my opinion. Breakfast was your normal buffet restaurant, nit a lot of gluten free options avaliable, asked for some gluten free bread and was handed one small slice. Hotel close to beach, and town so great location. Not enough parking...

“The hotel is in a beautiful and restful setting. The staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant food was brilliant. We enjoyed seeing the peacocks and other birds in the grounds.”

“We like the room with rhe seaview. To watch the sunset and just to enjoy the fresh air was a joy to remember. The staff were friendly and helpful. Yes some furnishings in the room were dated and may need updating but the current decor was reflecrive of its former glory. Overall I like the hotels art deco features. Great breakfast selection and excellent location.”

“Overall the majority of the staff were welcoming. However there was an occasion we asked at breakfast time could we have a window table at dinner time. I said that it need not be every night but was told by the restaurant attendant that the system books the tables so they cannot assure my request. I asked to speak to the restaurant manager and after rolling her eyes she said ok. The restaurant manager came and said that the system books table booking on a first come first serve basis so that she...

“Incredible hotel, couldn’t recommend more. The only fault I could find was the WiFi. It was a very weak connection that fell in and out of connection every single day, normally wouldn’t be a big issue but obviously you don’t have any data in that location either. Other than that, spectacular!!”
