“This was our fifth stay at the Netherwood, having first discovered it in 2022. We have stayed in different (sea view) rooms each time and none has disappointed. The hotel has a lovely country house feel, having originally being a Bolton businessman's country residence, with lots of original features (wood panelling, grand fireplaces, stained glass windows, etc). They had no availability when we tried to book last October, so we had to stay in another hotel close by, which frankly paled in...

“Our room was two flights up and had a good view. The shower and hairdryer were poor on power and effectiveness but we did have a lovely bath after a long walk. The bed was a little uncomfortable and a bit stale smelling but roomy and light. Breakfast was 8:30-9:30 which was late for walkers trying to get an early start, but they do take away lunches. A mixed bag overall but we paid £136 for a double room and expected more for the price.”

“Awful stay! From check in u til checking out it was a catalogue of errors. Dirty breakfast area, broken coffee machine, food running out. Staff seemed unable to respond appropriately and there was no obvious leadership present which should have offered some direction. It took 2 hours and 3 attempts to check in and they still got it wrong. I arranged the trip for my guests and I felt embarrassed that I had chosen this hotel due to our experience.”
