“Difficult for the hotel as there was a power cut for quite a few hours following the storm”

“Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Property is in need of some TLC, and could be an excellent venue. Gardens in need of de-weeding and some cutting back on trees, brambles etc.”

“Excellent communication from staff and really helpful and friendly”

“Perfect! Amazing view from the room ! Al clean and really confortable! ”

“Booked a double room but got a room with 3 single beds. Not the end of the world but not what I booked. Beds were uncomfortable. “I received a very warm greetings g when I arrived and was shown to my room, the room was very clean with a view of the train station which was amazing. I had dietary requirements and they were very happy to help. I really enjoyed it and will definitely return”

“Lovely friendly staff, excellent location for the New House Farm wedding venue nearby. Room was quite basic and old fashioned but as pictured in photos. Was great to have a proper bath in the room! The cooked breakfast was fantastic I was very sad I couldn’t finish it all! Would stay again!”

Cooked breakfast was fantastic as was dinner … but … why oh why would you feature Nothumbrian sourced ingredients in the...

“Bed was awful but the people who work there are extremely helpful and nice and the cooked breakfast was superb. Get a ev charger !!”

“I've stayed at the Trout a number of times, it is a pretty, well maintained hotel with lots of character and ideally placed to explore Cockermouth, the Western Lakes and the national park. The food is good and the staff are professional and very friendly.”
