“The Railway Inn is a small hotel, over a pub that closes reasonably early and literally next to the train lines. The barkeep is also the hotel staff and the breakfast cook. She is terrific and lively. My room was on the second floor - spacious with two excellent twin beds, comfortable bedding and kettle, cookies, etc. They would like entry by 22.00 which I did not see in the ad, so I arrived later and she directed me to reach my room, which she had left open. The breakfast is cooked to order...

“The hotels.com site states there is a reataurant at the location, there is but only open until 1500hrs, so that was a big issue as delivery was the next choice, pizza, indian etc not a great option and a minimium of £30 to get a delivery, a pain on your own. I then had an issue closing the room window as that neess maintenance, the tv controls were next, there were none and the great staff had to find a spare set. The staff were great and the pub nice, accomodation was tired and not in walking...

“The staff were friendly the room was clean. However, plumbing was shocking when a person in another room showered at the same time the cold water pressure dropped and risked scolding. In the room we were in there was poor ventilation with no aircon room was stiffling at night.”

“The staff were very friendly on check in and the room was beautifully appointed with freshly made cookies on our tea tray to greet us - the tea tray itself had plenty of choice and lots of coffee pods, not just one or two that you often get at other places. The downsides were that it was ridiculously hot when we stayed and the maid had left our curtains open so the room was like an inferno. There was no aircon but there were tower fans in the wardrobe - had to be grateful for small mercies!...

“The Dundas Arms is a warm welcoming hotel in an interesting setting between canal and river on the edge of a lovely village. The room was well appointed with a comfortable bed. The restaurant was busy with good service and a good menu of delicious food. The staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient. It was our diamond wedding celebration and we were well looked after and given complimentary bubbly to celebrate. We had a most enjoyable 3 days and consider Dundas an ideal country venue and...
