Vacations Close To Admiral Nimitz Gallery

Looks are deceiving. The lobby, bar and restaurant look really nice but our room was less than desirable. The walls had stains, and the bed was hard as a rock. Once you were on the room floors it didn’t look to be well kept. It was fine for the one night we were there but I would not recommend. At least the sheets and towels were clean and fresh.

Excellent location, spacious rooms, and a great room layout. Unfortunately, calling this a luxury property is a stretch. The bathtub was peeling, the walls were damaged, and the property generally showed its age. We also had to call for basic items like an ironing board and extra linens. I’m sure some guests love the hotel’s “signature” scent, but it was incredibly overpowering our first night. It gave me a terrible headache, and there was no escaping it. And while I realize daily amenity fees are becoming increasingly common, charging one for a property with a tiny, poorly maintained pool and a gym we won’t use feels particularly unjustified. Especially after paying $60+ fees each day for parking. It’s a surefire way to put the final nail in the we’ll-never-stay-here-again coffin. Great location, but the condition of the property and the nickel-and-diming make it difficult to recommend.

The staff was very friendly, and the property is very close to the Riverwalk and the Alamo. What a beautiful hotel! I wish i had a chance to eat at Anacacho because breakfast at the Gallery was great, and the coffee was strong!

There was no chair nor table in our room, and we had some trouble determining how to turn off the light on the wall behind the television. We went to the desk late at night about needing help, but all we got was there is a button somewhere on the side of the refrigerator. But no-one would come to the room and help us find the button. The button was buried under the plug for a coffee pot. Also, the telephone would not work, but the guys at the night desk told us there was nothing wrong with the phones. It turned out that none of the hotel's room phone were working. I think it was the next afternoon that the phones were in operational,
