Where to stay in Wilmore

This is the river where grain alcohol turned into bourbon. Along this river distillers would load barges of alcohol destined for Memphis and New Orleans. To cheapen the transport, they used cask oak barrels. During the long trip down to New Orleans the alcohol would mix in with the wooden barrels and be transformed. New Orleans didn't know what to call this sweet new liquor. The casks were stamped with the county of origin, Bourbon County. This resulted in a new nickname being formed, Bourbon Whiskey, and the name stuck. The river isn't used for transport much anymore, but the history remains.

High Bridge

While High Bridge might not have many sights to explore, venturing just a little farther will lead you to top things to see and do like Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill and Peninsula Golf Course.
