The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location. Restaurants and shops in walking distance. Easy commute to historic district in Charleston. All rooms are oceanfront. Beautiful and easy access to the beach. Small balcony, bring your own camping chairs to sit on it. The hotel is a little dated. We didn’t like rooms not being painted and freshening up scratches . You had to wait until almost 5 pm before cleaning staff came to replace towels make beds. We are used to that being handled by noon. We felt the floors in the room had not been cleaned before arrival. There is a small refrigerator in the room but no microwave which would have been convenient. There was also no phone to reach the front desk. There were two elevators, but one was frequently out of service causing wait times. Overall, we enjoyed a lot about staying at the Tides. We wish they would work a little more on freshening up the rooms and cleaning. The beach and walkable restaurants make it very convenient.
