“I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. The facilities in the kitchen were good but some of the pans had loose handles. The staff clearly clean but somehow...

“I so want this place to succeed! It’s in the most picturesque village, but needs some TLC after a string of management changes. New team comes in August. The bedrooms are clean, small, very comfortable and well designed. Current staff are lovely, but they’re leaving in 2 weeks.”

“Parking space was a great plus. A nice old traditional pub with plenty tables outside. Bed comfortable enough for one night stay. Good, powerful shower. Delicious full english breakfast. Dining room was a little fusty and in need of a some TLC and the evening meal was a bit overpriced for what it was but still an overall charming stay in this gorgeous location. ”

“Stunning location and view. Loved the quiet it's why we chose it. Loved the decor and Art Deco feel. Comment not a criticism. We struggled with the stairs. Could use a cobweb brush. We are happy to and will return. A memorable holiday. Thank you”

“Onernight stay on way to Scotland. Lovely quiet location within a few miles of M6. Friendly staff, clean pleasant room. Had evening meal in the restaurant which was very good. Enjoyed it so much we repeated the experience on the way back! Second night room was a bit smaller but fine for overnight. ”

“We enjoyed the bell tent and tipi we had for the night. The children wanted to know why they heard sheep bleating in the field next door - it was late, but the noise level was peaceful. Just mamas checking in on their lambs, I'm guessing. Lovely for going to sleep by. The kitchen was properly outfitted for a place of this sort and made feeding our family cheap and easy. We had to be split up for fire safety (six children), but that would be the case for a Travelodge or something and then...

“Wonderful staff. Old building with no AC, which as a traveling american in summer was an adjustment but lots of history to the building and the staff was super helpful. Beautiful views as well!”

El cuarto era muy pequeño y por preservar un estilo, hay cosas desafortunadamente incómodas para el viajero o la vida de hoy. El baño tenía una pileta de pie, cero lugar para apoyar los 2 necessaires de viaje. Las canillas eran de fria por un lado y caliente por el otro. Sin mezcladora. O sea que para lavarse las manos hay que llenar la pileta o congelarse la derecha mientras...

“Beautiful place to stop and enjoy great views of the Lake and take the ferry ride!”

“Breakfast lounge was sparse, no plates so had to use a lid from something else to butter and eat toast. Parking was easy and useful in The Lakes. Room was nice and bed was large and comfy, downside was the heat from the large floor to ceiling windows in the sitting lounge at the front with no way to cool it down. Be better if we weren’t having a heatwave! Overall it was a nice enough place, well positioned for Ambleside and Waterhead and parking was a plus.”

“It was a great location. We did find the car park a little bit tight and tricky to get into (as the road was fairly busy when we arrived). The cottage was great and had all we were after and the downstairs bathroom was great for my elderly Mum. The two single beds mattresses were a bit past their best so the only thing I’d suggest to improve the property would be an update of those. Otherwise it was a great place to stay right on the river.”
