“Absolutely lovely pub hotel. Rooms were great, comfortable beds, great selection of tea/coffee sachets in the room and a good smart TV. The breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly. So quiet and peaceful but 3 minute drive to Ullswater. I walked down to Aira Force from the hotel which was a bonus. We'll be back!”

There was a large fan provided, which was very welcome given the heatwave that was taking place that week, We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. “I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. The facilities in the kitchen were good but some of the pans had loose handles. The staff clearly clean but somehow...

“Stayed with my son overnight on our trip to climb Helwellyn. Did the climb prior to checking in, as check in was from 3pm. Asked in advance if we could use the car park upon our arrival in the morning & it was no problem. Once we checked in, the room was good with a modern ensuite, ironing board, hair-dryer and coffee facilities. All the staff were friendly with a nicely stocked bar and it was fine to book a table for our evening meal. The menu had a good choice of meat and vegetarian options....

“One of the few hotels in central Ambleside with lots of facilities which was a bonus. Although the sauna and steam room were a little chilly! Areas of the hotel were being upgraded with others still to do - bathrooms and main dining area.”

“What a lovely hotel with such good energy. There’s a serenity to this place. I thoroughly enjoyed the amenities from a swim in the pool, hot sauna, hanging out in the terrace and dinner at The Living Space. The property itself is beautifully designed.
