“The location is excellent but that is where it ends. I have no idea why everyone is giving it the 4 or 5 stars. Please people tell the truth. The rooms are mediocre at best and very dated. The shower robes basically told the full story. They were fraying to bits. The bed was uncomfortable to sleep in as the mattress seemed very tired as you sunk right into it and the electric heaters gave such a dry heat we had to turn them all off. Freezing was a more comfortable option. The breakfast, was...

“Very special well maintained hotel with an exceptional view of the lake. A redeveloped house with additional cabins and animals on the property. Gave it a 4 stars instead of 5 because dinner is incredibly expensive and there was no way to walk around the lake and do some exploration”

“Good value in a town with few hotels with this level of quality”

“Dave and Shami are lovely hosts, we felt welcomed and had a great stay there.”

“Exceptional. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Country Villa Estate. Danny and Mabel were fabulous hosts from the moment we arrived. We were met with a warm welcome before being shown to our very comfortable room which was beautifully decorated and with everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast was superb with different options each day. Mabel is a true artist with her delicious breakfast offerings. Beautiful gardens, comfortable spaces to relax, a truly unique...

“Hermosa vista. Definitivamente regresaré.”

“Our room when we checked in had no AC working. We were transferred to another room and it was still the same outcome. Turns out the whole hotel’s AC unit was inoperable. That itself is unacceptable with the fact that Rotorua in November is pretty humid. The staff were very mediocre with our concerns. The only time we had a good interaction with the staff was during our checkout. The lady who talked to us there was much nicer than the lady who checked us in. The lady apologised for their poor...
