I walked in and the reception person had an icepack on her head. Someone was sitting outside my room smoking on the balcony, and the window unit blew that straight into my room. My deadbolt wouldn't lock on the door, and that is not acceptable!

Older property, but we knew that .I have stayed there several times nothing fancy. More nostalgia than anything. Free breakfast was not very good and the hostess did not come out from the back the whole time we were there.

Absolutely the worst hotel we have been to. We travel with a pet, so we're usually not that particular about the condition of the hotel. Still, we had to leave after 20 min. When we walked into the room, we noticed the funky smell. Well, every hotel has a particular smell from the cleaning agent they use, but it wasn't that kind of smell. It was a dirty smell. Then we used the toilet after a long drive. The toilet paper holder was off the wall completely. Well, at least toilet paper was there. Then we used a towel to wipe our hands. Oh my! We never saw the towels in this condition. Not just old they were stained Like someone wiped a dirty car. My husband took them to the front desk to exchange them the whole set of towels had stains on them again. I guess those are normal to their standard. The sheets had a stain also, that's when we decided to leave. We had to pay extra to find another hotel at the last minute but we knew that we couldn't sleep in that room. We just couldn't believe that the hotel had a decent review rate.

Hotel is very cute and clean. The owners did a nice job renovating an old property. Other reviews mentioned the area being “sketchy”. It’s not, San Angelo is just an older town. It’s a small hotel, so parking is a pinch. We came back after a football game at 10pm and got the last spot in the lot. My only drawback was the staff. The gentleman that checked us in was nice. The two ladies that were there in the morning when we came down for breakfast barely spoke. The woman that was supposed to be working in the lounge part was sitting on the couch. Didn’t ask if we wanted any hot food or coffee made. I actually didn’t know she worked there until she got up and went behind the check-in desk. Then she put on her lip gloss and played with her hair. When a guest walked into the lounge, he had to go over to ask for help. She got up and got his food without washing her hands. Good interactions with staff are something that makes me want to return to a property. Her behavior isn’t enough to not make me come back if I’m in San Angelo again, but she’s definitely a factor in the decision.
