It was easy to get to sites and enjoy fine restaurants. The Inn is in keeping with the feel of strength of the Bennington community, as a place for artists, musicians, and people's expression generally to thrive. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend South Shire.”

“We were disappointed that this "Inn" is really an older motel, run together with another older motel across the highway and a converted barn/restaurant. We should have read the descriptions and reviews more carefully. On return, after checking the listing, it was perfectly clear. Note: If you want an Inn experience, the converted barn seems to be the place to stay. On the positive, the room was quiet, the beds comfortable and everything was clear although very well worn. “Strong dog smell, dirty shabby condition of interior surfaces. Obvious makeshift repairs, spongy floors, torn, flaking couch. Kitchen counter had multiple burn marks and some sticky substance, corner held down with duct tape. Screen door off tracks, laying against wall. Wife was stung by insect in the unit, had to go to hospital. We moved out after only 3 hours, and literally slept in the car rather than go back. Owner uncaring, rude and greedy.
