Vacations Close To Golden Nordic Ski Club - Dawn Mountain Trails

The 9.0 rating set expectations that my stay did not meet. The property felt more like a cheaply renovated motel than a hotel. The beds and linens were acceptable, but the bathroom felt unclean, and the breakfast was poor. Even the orange juice tasted artificial. Overall, this was a disappointing stay, and I would not choose this hotel again.

I don’t even know whose fault this is which is part of the problem. Someone owns this unit that is operated by a company that is in the building of another company. When I messaged with some questions through the Expedia app no one answered multiple times. Check in was difficult. They message you through Expedia to use a different guest portal where you log in, give credit card, and have to take a picture of your ID. You then have to make a different account to register your license plate to park in their parkade. It was tedious with more steps than necessary and no one to ask questions to. Another issue is there were major renovations going on during our stay. Our building was just a construction zone. It was loud and we were told they may need access into our unit. They’ve been doing these renos since Sept 28 (we stayed Oct 11) but they only let us know about the renos and that they made need to be IN OUR UNIT merely hours before we could still cancel (~3 days before our trip). There was no discount for the construction happening. Even the elevator wouldn’t go to the 2nd floor at one point. They also boast of having the only movie theatre in Canmore, but with no notice, that was also closed due to construction. At one point during our stay our code to the door stopped working and we couldn’t enter our suite until someone came to give us a physical fob. The unit itself was clean and nice. But the customer service/communication was abysmal.
