“No air conditioning in bedroom and a 10.5 tog duvet on the bed in summer. Couldn't have the window open as room was on the ground floor and the safety cable, designed to stop the window being opened more than a couple of inches, was broken and hanging off. After enduring a very uncomfortable night I asked the receptionist if the duvet could be replaced with a lighter one. She said she would speak to housekeeping and that perhaps they could supply a couple of sheets if a duvet was not available....

Very outdated and dusty, lots of webs and spiders in corners of ceiling with a damp musty smell every time you walk in. Peeled walls in corners from dampness. Bathroom was quite nice and clean but very low pressure water in the shower. Spa facilities were quite pleasant and enjoyable, although the changing rooms could be cleaned thoroughly. “Overall this hotel suited our needs as we were visiting Colchester Zoo. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The air conditioner in our room did not cool properly.”
