Vacations Close To Empire State Building

Housekeeping was great. Rooms were clean.

The hotel is very well situated, and we got great service (shoutout to Manuel at reception!). The public areas and the room were all very clean and well maintained. The room doors slam very loudly, and so when other guests leave or arrive early morning or late at night we hear doors slamming. It would be accommodating if complimentary water bottles were replenished daily and not just upon arrival. We would stay there again!

The hotel is undergoing renovations, which is not mentioned in the booking. The entrance on the Expedia page is closed. The lobby pictured is closed. The restaurant is closed. Elevators are finicky and take forever. Our room had a GREAT view; but that is the only good thing. There were pubic hairs in the bed, in the bathroom, on the desk. The furniture was beat up, more than what I consider “normal.” The headboard was dirty with handprints and -substances- (unsure what). There was mold in the bathroom. The closet doors were missing. We left this hotel and went to The Edison. Paid the same price and the facility and staff was AMAZING. Staff here did not want to help with a refund. It was like pulling teeth. Management doesn’t answer the phone. I had to resort to contacting my credit card company for a refund. The property finally got in contact with Expedia to refund me, after the fact. Staff at our other hotel informed me this hotel had been a shelter during COVID — which is wonderful — but appears it should have been renovated prior to reopening as a hotel.

My daughter and I were given room 1108 and then didn’t return to the room until after dark. When we got ready for bed the first night, we found a wad of hair in the corner of the shower. We chalked it up to housekeeping not seeing it while cleaning, but then we pulled back the bedspread and there was lots of short dark hair in the sheets, which definitely wasn’t ours.. It was 11:30 pm, so I went down to the lobby to ask for fresh sheets. The desk clerk said there really wasn’t anything she could do as housekeeping had gone home for the night. She found one flat sheet in the back office, but I told her I wanted a full set and pillowcase since someone had clearly used the bed before me. She only found another flat sheet and then one pillow, so I made the bed best I could. Then we flushed the toilet and it made a high pitch long squeal before leaking out at the base onto the floor. At that point we could only look at each other and laugh at how not like the photos it was. I had read all the reviews before I booked, so I think our room was just one that is particularly old and worn. I do wish the staff would have been more concerned about the dirty sheets in our room, but on the plus side, we were in NYC for a concert at MSG and it was a very quick walk. It’s a great location for shows there, but perhaps bring your own sleep sack just in case!

We love this hotel! Our daughter goes to NYU and the location is perfect. Our check in ritual is to head over to Whole Foods and the wine shop on Bowery to stock up the mini fridge. The rooms and common spaces are immaculate. Early complimentary coffee on the Lobby level is so appreciated. Can't wait for our next stay!

The location was amazing so close to Times Square and broadway shows. You could walk to Madison square garden and the Empire State building. Comfortable beds and clean. Rooms could use an update but would stay there again.

This is a great place to stay. Clean room, quick service and great location make this hotel a perfect choice.
