“We had a pleasant stay. The grounds was beautiful. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a short visit. We stayed in the west wing section with a view to the garden. The rooms are not large in size with a double bed.

“The room was tired and Amenities were poor. Staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. Reception welcome was far from a welcome. The bathroom was filthy with black mould marks and the Bathroom door was completely rotten. The walls were paper thin - I was kept awake until after midnight. I phoning reception 3 times to ask if the room next door could turn their television down which was blaring for hours. After the third phone call over 2 hours they eventually did at 10.30pm. “Avoid a room above the bar because of the noise. I think it must get its 3 star rating from the rooms in the new areas. The food was very mediocre. For food I would recommend The Fox Hole which is around a 5 minute walk. The setting saved my stay because it was lovely to sit by the river. The staff were very nice.”
