Our getaway to Fernandina Beach and stay at Hoyt House was excellent. Our hosts David,Lindy and Katie were so helpful, as was all the staff. (Shout out to Sydney and Amanda.) Our hosts helped arrange tours for us and were helpful with recommendations on food, entertainment and tours. The morning breakfasts were top of the line. Our room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. And the pool was a god send for relaxing. Happy hour at the bar was a great way to meet other guests, or just enjoy a glass of wine or drink. Definitely recommend Hoyt House and will return again.

The Florida House Inn has quite the historic charm. If you are looking for modern amenities other than air conditioning and indoor plumbing, this is probably not the place for you. If you want a nice quiet getaway with some very rich (over 150 years) history, then this is the place. The Green Turtle Tavern, right next door, has live music on weekends so it is a little loud until 11pm Fri/Sat and 10pm Sun. If that’s not on your getaway punch card, again maybe not for you. We had a fun time sitting on the front porch, with our own cocktails, and people watching. You can also sit down on the back patio around the mermaid fountain for a slightly quieter get together. You can also make friends with the resident kitties if they will allow it. If you know cats, you know what I mean. The black cat, Mama, is the sweetest. The Mermaid Bar is open, inside, until 10ish. The restaurant, Leddy’s Porch seems to be a locals favorite spot for Sunday Brunch. The food was great AND you can get unlimited mimosas (or Bloody Mary’s I think) for $15. The fried green tomato BLT with homemade ranch was so yummy. My husband got an omelet with sausage and the sausage was phenomenal! Homemade and so tasty! There’s also indoor and outdoor seating. That was nice. Especially with the change of seasons coming, it would make for a beautiful Sunday out. We had a small issue with linens when we got there but the staff was very accommodating and courteous. We will definitely be back to visit.

Nice place, good location to enjoy the beach, restaurant near the hotel, the pool area is small but nice, good for kids
