Beautiful beach. Staff was excellent!

We had a wonderful stay! When our flight was cancelled, I wish we could have stayed the extra night.

We weren't aware of all of the stairs but managed fine.

Grotto Bay has seen better days. We arrived at check-in time to a very substandard room. The building was next to active construction, the room was so moist water covered the windows so you could barely see out, plus the alleged ocean front room looked out onto a wall of shrubbery, so the water was barely visible. After much discussion with the woman at the front desk, we spoke to the manager. They said they only had one available unit which was below the level we had paid for. He offered to reimburse $40 a night, which was not the price difference online. Eventually, he also offered an additional $50 credit. The overall facilities are not well maintained or especially clean. The pillows and bed were comfortable however. The microwave that they wanted to charge extra for was broken and they never sent another one. The property is close to the airport, which is what we were looking for our last couple of nights, but I would not go back. Expedia users beware: in negotiating with the staff and manager to try to get the room we felt we had paid for they kept saying, but you booked on Expedia as if that did not entitle you to the room you booked! I have had that attitude about Expedia at other properties but nothing this bad. Last thing, we ended up meeting another couple who had the same experience. Sounds as if the first room they were offered was as bad or worse as the one they tried to put on us. Good luck
