Photo ""Climbing up on Solsbury Hill", made famous by the Peter Gabriel song of 1979. The hill is actually called Little Solsbury Hill, it's a hill fort above Bathampton, just east of Bath. The photo was taken looking west to the Swainswick Valley, on a glorious May day, when the whole hill was covered in buttercups. It's a fantastic destination on a summers day. We did a 15 mile circular hike from Bath, following the start of the Cotswolds Way out of Bath, up to Kelston Round Hill. At the Horse race course, turn right off the Cotswolds Way, and head to Landsdown Road. Cross the road, and head across the level fields to Charlcombe Grove Farm, then descend into the valley below to go through Woolley village and to Upper Swainswick. Cross the A46, and climb up Solsbury Hill. From there descend to the south east to Bathampton, cross the River Avon and head up to the Kennet & Avon canal, which you follow back into Bath. An alternate walk up Solsbury Hill is provided by Damian Hall in the Cicerone title "Walking in the Cotswolds" - Walk 26 "Swainswick Valley and Little Solsbury Hill". That starts from a car park on the A46." by Paul Stephenson (Creative Commons Attribution 2.0) / Cropped from original

Rent guest houses in Batheaston

You’ve probably heard that “there’s no place like home,” but renting one of the best guest houses in Batheaston may just change your mind. When you rent guest houses for your vacation, you get way more than just a place to lay your head for the night—guest houses are often packed with bonus amenities that allow you to rest in ultimate comfort.

What are guest houses?

When you book a stay in guest houses, your lodgings can vary depending on what part of the world you’re in. In the U.S., you might find your accommodations ranging from small guest houses that share a property with another home to something more like an inn with bonus amenities. If you’re traveling internationally, guest houses are more akin to a bed and breakfast and could include boutique conveniences like homecooked meals and beverage services. These stays have a more personal touch and can be found across destinations, from a lush countryside to a tropical locale.

You’ll also discover a variety of styles of this welcoming lodging available, from tiny guest houses made to fit a tight budget all the way to luxury abodes built for splurging. You can expect to find guest houses for rent to fit your desired travel experience, whether you just need simple and cheap guest houses, or want something more specific like gay guest houses in LGTBQ-centric neighborhoods.
