“Lovely stay here , room was comfortable , warm and clean , very quiet despite being by the road . The only noise was from the bar quiz but that didn’t go on for long . Our meal here was lovely, reasonably priced and well worth the money , when the beer my partner wanted had finished he chose another, only to be brought a free half pint when it was back on again . Wouldn’t hesitate to return ”

“I stayed here with my partner and 2 young children. We booked a room with two double beds - this was perfect. What really impressed me about the hotel was the extra details everywhere to make it really welcoming and easy for families. Toys, games, high chairs, ramps and accesible options - and even some secret doors for elves & fairies hidden around the place. “Got a last minute deal and was then upgraded. Very comfy bed, quiet room wifi worked well , refurbished shower hot and strong. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious . Minimal staff tried hard and very friendly. ”

“I stayed at the Tavern for one night Monday 6/10/25 prior to attending a funeral. I had read previous reviews criticising road noise. Whilst it was heard,I didn’t find it an issue at all. Had a good nights sleep in a comfy bed. Superb bathroom- i loved the large soaker tub- hard to find a room with bath these days. Staff were very friendly and food was hot and tasty with portions on the large side! Would definitely stay here again.”

“Nice room (39) comfy bed, old-fashioned but beautiful armoire and dressing table. Coal effect fire, but central heating was excellent so didn't need it. Fitted bathroom with underfloor heating was really cosy. Really clean. Good breakfast and bar food was excellent . Highly recommended ”
