“Nice place. Base queen rooms are quite comfortable. Older style rooms that have seen makeovers. Bed is a bit ordinary. However, the restaurant is first class. The food is sensational and service is really impeccable. Had breakfast here too and that again was excellent with the same great service. I would recommend a stay here but maybe cough up for a better room. There is quite a range and some of them look really nice”

“Has been a few years since staying here so I wasn't sure what to expect. Upon arrival I'm greeted nicely and advised of a room upgrade!!! I go to my assigned room and that's when things get a little sketchy. Approach room and door is ajar - hmm not the usual thing to expect. Should I enter with caution and taser on standby? “A great surprise! At first, it's a bit surprising the arrival at the hotel: you find a pub and a gambling room, and you must check in at the gambling room. But when you enter the rooms zone, wow! “Rooms were huge, lovely bath in bathroom as well. But the man at the reception was amazing. Had alot of information about places to see and recomendations and even went out of his way to get more for us. Would def recommend this place”

“We were blown away by our stay in this wonderful property. It is small boutique hotel which has been immaculately restored by the owners. We had a suite consisting of a bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. It was well equipped, warm and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast at the adjacent Commodore Hotel and the food was very good. This is one of the best places we have stayed in on our Australia trip.”

“OK, so it's a real prison. And we were staying off-season, and by chance we were the only guests there that night... and the check-in was all automatic. So the whole thing was kind of surreal as we walked around the prison yard, reading the signs about historic prison life etc. You REALLY get the vibe of being in an old gaol, so don't stay there if you're going to get freaked out by things like that. Beds were comfortable, room had everything we needed, but again remember: prison vibe. On the...
